Lucille Gustafson, age 93, of Merrill, formerly of Tomahawk, passed away peacefully at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. She was born Jan. 9, 1927 in Pentwater, Mich.,to the late Joseph and Valeria (Pataceskas) Melauskas. On Feb. 8, 1944, she married Russell Gustafson in Chicago, Ill.

Lucille had 35 years of service as a nursing assistant at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. She especially liked working with the newborn babies and their mothers. Lucille enjoyed golfing, traveling, and all the family gatherings. Lucille was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it.

Lucille is survived by one daughter: Marie (Michael) Landes; one daughter-in-law: Anita (Krueger) Gustafson; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Russell, son Eugene, two sisters, Emma Melauskas and Bernice Ellis and two grandsons, Chad Landes and Michael Krueger.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral will be celebrated by immediate family. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Ogema.

The family wishes to thank everyone who had a part in caring for Lucille. She will be greatly missed.
