TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Hatchet hockey team hosted Ashland at SARA Park on Monday Dec. 21, and were defeated by a score of 10 to 1.

Head coach Chris Bembinster said that although it may not have been reflected on the score sheet, the team played its most complete game of the season.

“The 10-1 score doesn’t show how they came together as a team,” he stated. “(There was) improvement in every area of the game by every player. These are the games we build on to make this season come together!”

Following their loss to Ashland, the Hatchet pucksters welcomed conference rivals Antigo to SARA Park on Tuesday, Dec. 22, and Antigo came away with an 11 to 1 win.

Bembinster noted that the team had played five games in seven days, and the exhaustion was present on the ice.

“Not only did we play our best game last night, we had to come back to a good Antigo squad,” he said. “We have things to get better at, but the week off before our next game should help us recharge and prepare.”

The Hatchets were back in action against Marshfield at SARA Park on Tuesday, Dec. 29, and will be back on the ice on Thursday, Jan. 7, when they travel to Medford for a game that starts at 7 p.m.
