For the Tomahawk Leader

NORTHERN WISCONSIN – The February meeting of the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. The virtual meeting will be open to the public.

Eloisa Gomez, co-chair of the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin’s Community Alliance Committee (CAC), will explain what Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) is, why it is important for the Northwoods, and who is covered by it. Following the presentation, there will be opportunity for questions and discussion.

Gomez, co-author, poet, former Milwaukee County University of Wisconsin-Extension Cooperative Director and current Chair of the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County’s Comite por el voto latino/Latinx Voter Outreach Committee (CVL-LVO), has been working for the past three years at registering Latino voters and promoting voter education on Milwaukee’s Southside in partnership with a variety of community partners. Her book, Somos Latinas: Voices of Wisconsin Latina Activists, co-authored by Andrea-Teresa Arenas, was published in 2018.

For more information on the meeting and a link to register, visit www.lwvnow.org. The meeting will be recorded and available for viewing, along with previous meetings, on the league’s YouTube channel, LWVNOW Information.
