Robert ‘Bob’ Wallis Sr.

Robert “Bob” Wallis Sr., age 79, of Tomahawk, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

Bob was born on Nov. 26, 1941 in Tomahawk to Richard B. and Lorraine L. (Ernst) Wallis. Bob was formerly married to Gail E. Wallis. He was a State Farm Insurance Agent in Tomahawk from 1967 until his retirement in 1994. He also was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in the early years. Bob was a pilot and a member of Friends of The Tomahawk Airport. Bob had worked fire patrol for the DNR in the 1970s. He was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. Bob was a former member of the Tomahawk Chamber and the Tomahawk Lions Club. He loved spending time at the cabin and making firewood with his very special friend, Rita Hilgendorf. Bob also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Spyder and having coffee every day at 12:35 p.m. at McDonald’s with his friends. Bob will be remembered as a great story teller. His son, Bob, has many great memories working alongside and learning from his dad. Bob loved family gatherings with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was such a special grandpa to them. Rita’s children will be forever grateful to Bob for sharing his life with them.

Bob is survived by his son – Robert Wallis Jr., of Tomahawk; and very special friend for over 40 years – Rita Hilgendorf and her children – Ellen, Carl, John, Ed and Jenny. Bob is further survived by his former wife – Gail Wallis of Tomahawk; brother – Paul Wallis of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren – Benjamin, Katie, Kylie (Chuck) and Adam (Hannah); great-grandchildren – Morgan, Madisyn, Cayden, Bristol, Bennett and Hudson; and two nieces – Rebekah (Brett) Lemley and Sarah Wallis.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and daughter – Lisa.

The Funeral Service for Bob Wallis Sr. will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Susan Christian from Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in the spring. If you are attending the visitation and funeral, facemasks will be mandatory and social distancing practiced. If you do not feel comfortable with attending, you may join the family on a Zoom meeting.
