Agnes M. Halverson

Agnes M. Halverson, age 90, of Spirit Falls, Wis., passed away on March 21, 2021, peacefully at her home. Agnes was born on the family farm May 28, 1930, in Deer Park Township, Minn., to the late John and Agnes (Serocki) Eisbrener.

She grew up on the farm and went to school in the one-room schoolhouse of District 52. Agnes graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, Minn., in 1947. That fall, she began working as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell. In June of 1951, she married the love of her life, Marvel Halverson, in Grand Rapids, Minn., and they would be married for the next 69 years. Agnes and Marvel raised five children together. She moved with her family to Kenosha, Wis., in 1961 and worked for Wisconsin Bell in Kenosha and then Racine and retired from AT&T in 1985. She moved to Spirit Falls in 1988, where she enjoyed a long and wonderful retirement.

Agnes will be remembered for her big smile. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, fishing, family, doing her word searches, watching her bird feeders and enjoying nature. She really looked forward to her daily phone conversations with her good friend, Dona Jahn.
