League of Women Voters meeting: ‘Democracy is not a Spectator Sport’

For the Tomahawk Leader

NORTHERN WISCONSIN – The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW)’s May meeting will feature “a lively, informative discussion led by local League members about why it’s important to make your voice heard, actions needed to inform your elected officials, and where to look for resources and information on key issues.”

The meeting, open to the public, will take place virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, May 11 at 11 a.m.

“You do not need to be a boisterous advocate joining peaceful marches or commenting at county board meetings to have a powerful impact,” LWBNOW said. “Join us on May 11 to find out how.”

For more information on the panel members and a link to register, visit www.lwvnow.org.

The meeting will be recorded, and available for viewing afterwards on LWVNOW’s YouTube channel, LWVNOW Information.

The LWVNOW encompasses Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties. The local league belongs to the state and national League of Women Voters, “a non-partisan organization devoted to helping members and fellow citizens develop educated political opinions and act upon them through the democratic process.” The league’s monthly meetings and sponsored events are open to all.
