Alice “Tootie” M. Thone, age 88, a lifelong resident of Tomahawk, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wis. Alice was born in Tomahawk on Feb. 9, 1933, to the late Alex and Elsie (Castagner) Liberty. She was married to Arnold Thone in 1955; he passed away on Jan. 29, 2019.
Tootie was raised in Tomahawk, where she was a graduate of Tomahawk High School. She was a talented cook/baker who was well known for her baking, especially her sweet rolls. Tootie was an avid Packer, Brewer, and Badger fan who never missed a televised game. She enjoyed puzzles, knitting, watching the Hallmark Channel, and socializing with her “Alice Henke” friends. Above all, Tootie cherished time spent with her family.
Survivors include her children, Debbie (Andy) Tomaszewski, Terri (Jerry) Pankow, Sherri (Brad) Thomas, Rick (Tina) Thone, and Cindy (Brian) Arens; her grandchildren, Craig (Sabrina) Redmond, Heather (Chris) Ohlmann, Nick (Amanda) Sukow, Kylee (Tom) Ray, Jennifer (Josh) Johnsen, and Cody Thone; her great-grandchildren, Yvonne, Lara, Chase, Taylor, Ariana, Madilyn, Jace, Braylyn, Huxley, and Lawsyn; her siblings, Lowell (Judy) Liberty, and William Liberty. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Tootie was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Elsie; her brother, Alex Jr.; and her sisters, Dorothy Erickson, Mercedes McFarland, and Shirley Czekalski.
Funeral services for Alice Thone weree held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Generations Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Rev. Larry Mathein officiated. The family received friends for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
