TOMAHAWK – The School District of Tomahawk recently hired Scott Parsons as its new Athletic, Recreation, and Pool Director.

Parsons fills newly-combined roles previously held by Garth Gerstenberger and Marion Kohl, who had worked with the district as Athletic Director and Pool Director, respectively. He will also have recreation duties to assist with scheduling community use of district facilities.

Parsons is a lifelong Wisconsin resident. After graduating from Cedarburg High School, he attended Valparaiso University, majoring in business administration and playing on the men’s golf team.

Prior to beginning a career as a high school athletic director, Parsons worked as Ticket Operations Manager for the Milwaukee Brewers for nine years.

After working with the Brewers, Parsons spent 12 years as Grafton High School’s Athletic Director and five years as Athletic and Recreation Director at Cedar Grove-Belgium High School.

Parsons and his wife, Laura, have three children: son Brad, and twin daughters Allison and Amanda. Brad is a 2017 Marquette University graduate. Allison graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2021, while Amanda is a 2021 Concordia University-St. Paul graduate. Amanda is a four-year starter as catcher on the Concordia-St. Paul softball team (NCAA Division 2) and will play a fifth year as a graduate student.

Parsons said he’s excited to be in Tomahawk.

“I’ve been really impressed with the facilities and the people that work here,” he stated. “You can sense there is a great deal of pride. Anyone coming to Tomahawk will be amazed at the opportunities and feel that this school will provide.”

Parsons said he’s looking forward to meeting people and working in his new roles with the district.

“The pool is fantastic, and I’m looking to get a staff assembled, with the hope that those who have worked here previously would like to return,” he stated, adding that he’s been meeting with some of the district’s coaching staff and is looking forward to the beginning of the school year.

“(I’m) starting to feel like I’m getting to know the area a bit better, and like anything else new, will just take a bit of time,” Parsons added.
