StrongBodies classes to be offered in Tomahawk, Merrill this fall

LINCOLN COUNTY – StrongBodies, an evidence-based strength training program developed at Tufts University aimed at mid-life and older women and men, will be offered in Tomahawk and Merrill this fall.

The fall session will begin in Tomahawk on Sept. 13 and in Merrill on Sept. 20.

Tomahawk classes will be held on Mondays and Thursdays each week at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. at Terry Bucarow Fine Art Studio, 200 W. Mohawk Dr.

In Merrill, morning classes will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Afternoon classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. Both classes are one hour in length and will be held at the Merrill Enrichment Center, 303 N. Sales St.

“All women and men can benefit from strength training,” a release from UW-Madison Extension Lincoln County said. “The benefits of strength training have been studied extensively and include increased muscle mass, strength and improved bone density, as well as many more benefits physically and emotionally. The StrongBodies Program includes progressive resistance training, balance training, and flexibility exercises. These exercises are safe and effective for all ages, including those who are not in perfect health.”
