Clifford R. Hotchkiss
Clifford R. Hotchkiss, age 91, of Tomahawk, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., on July 9, 1930, to the late Raymond and Ruth (Grant) Hotchkiss. Cliff proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was married to Mary Marsh on May 10, 1958; she passed away in 2011.
Cliff grew up and attended school in Wisconsin Rapids. He later entered the workforce, beginning employment at Kupfer Iron Works, in Madison, Wis., where he climbed the ladder to superintendent and had over 20 years of service with the company. In 1973, Cliff worked as an engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, helping and inspecting with many bridge projects. He retired in 1993.
Cliff and Mary summered in the Tomahawk area for several years before making it their permanent home in 1993. They loved traveling and visiting friends. Cliff enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and boating. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons, Dennis Hotchkiss, and Raymond (Cindy) Hotchkiss; his daughter, Laura (Dave) Schmidt; and his sister-in-law, Shirley. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, Tammy, Paul, Cory, Michelle, Derek, Karmen, Kevin, and Casie; along with 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth; his wife, Mary; his grandson, Cory Schuppe; his brother, Herb; and his sisters, Mildred, Belva, Elaine, Ione, and Leah.
