Richard ‘Rick’ E. Jaeger
Richard “Rick” E. Jaeger, age 64, passed from this life on July 31, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer. Rick was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Nov. 22, 1956, to the late Alvin and Ingrid “Inky” (Brandstrom) Jaeger. He was married to Gina King on July 14, 2006; she survives.
Rick was a 1975 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee. He worked at Briggs & Stratton for a few years before pursuing his dream of entering the police academy. He started his career with the Milwaukee Police Department in Nov. 1980 and was assigned to District 2 and Vice Control Division. He was promoted to Detective in Jan. 1995 and worked primarily in Vice Control, on the entry team, and in the Criminal Investigation Bureau. He retired after 25 years of dedicated service in Dec. 2005.
Rick and Gina met “on the job” and shared over 21 years together. After Rick’s retirement, they fulfilled his long-term dream of moving to the Northwoods. Rick worked part time for several years at Heritage Chevy in the parts dept. He enjoyed all outdoor recreation, especially riding his motorcycle, listening to his tunes on the open road. He loved watching the birds in his yard, snowmobiling, and “putzing” on numerous projects around the house. Rick enjoyed lifting weights and working out, and he looked forward to socializing with friends at their weekly “meetings.”
Survivors include his wife, Gina King-Jaeger; his children, Nicole (Chris) Fischer, Kyle (Joanna) Jaeger, and his stepdaughter, Paige King. He was a proud grandfather of Sarah, Sadie, Sam, Kaitlyn, Tommy, Luke, and Farrah. Also surviving are his sisters, Karen (Kurt) Harenda, and Kathy Schiller (Bob); and his brother, Kevin (Clare) Jaeger. Rick is further survived by numerous friends in his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ingrid and Alvin, and his brother, Jeff.
