WISCONSIN – State Representative Calvin Callahan (R-Tomahawk) announced on Thursday, Sept. 23 that his office is seeking nominations for the 35th Assembly District’s 2021 First Responder of the Year Award.

The 35th Assembly District includes all of Lincoln County and portions of Langlade, Marathon, Oneida, and Shawano Counties.

“Our dedicated first responders, including police officers, fire fighters, and EMS personnel, work selflessly every day to keep our families and communities safe,” Callahan stated in a release. “This award will highlight one individual from each Assembly district who embodies that dedication and selflessness and recognize them at an upcoming State Assembly Floor Session at the end of October.”

Callahan said an individual could be nominated for “a specific heroic action, a significant professional achievement, certain community involvement over the course of their work, his/her body of work over time, or his/her length of service.”

Nominations are due no later than Friday, Oct. 8. They can be submitted to Callahan’s office online through www.RepCalvinCallahan.com or by emailing the name, contact information, and a brief description of the candidate to [email protected].

Dan Andrews of the Tomahawk Police Department received the award in 2019. He was nominated by then-35th Assembly District Representative and current 12th Senate District Representative Mary Fezkowski (R-Tomahawk).
