George W. Wilmot

George W. Wilmot, age 82, of Wausau, Wis., and formerly of Tomahawk, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021. George was born in Jersey City, N.J., on Sept.2, 1939, to the late Theodore and Mary (Link) Wilmot. George was married to Joyce Dillemuth on June 24, 1964; she survives.

George graduated from the Weehawken High School in New Jersey. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He later entered the workforce, beginning employment in Secaucus, N.J. He met his wife, Joyce, in Hawley, Penn., where they worked at the same company. He later moved to Illinois and worked as a supervisor at the FSC Paper Corp. for many years. After retirement, they made Wisconsin their home, where George enjoyed the beauty of the Northwoods and loved hunting, fishing, boating, and watching the wildlife. He could often be found putzing in his yard and could be heard singing hymns while mowing his lawn.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Wilmot; two sons, Steven Wilmot and George Wilmot Jr.; two daughters, Bonnie (Fred) Woodworth and Judy Wilmot; two brothers, Douglas Wilmot and Keith Wilmot; three sisters, Phyllis (Phillip) Hosbach, DeeDee (Chester) Addvensky, and Ruth Longmore. George is further survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, one of which was born on the day of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary; his grandson, Wesley; three brothers, Robert, Theodore, and Joseph; and his sisters, Shirley and Barbara.
