Thomas G. VerKilen
Thomas G. VerKilen, age 72, of Tomahawk, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, under the care of his family and Compassus Hospice. Tom was born on Jan. 26, 1949, in Marshfield, Wis., to the late George and Dorothy (Moore) VerKilen. He was married to Patricia Kohlbeck on March 9, 1968; she survives.
Tom grew up in Marshfield where he attended St. John’s Catholic Elementary School. He was a 1967 graduate of the Marshfield Senior High School. After graduation, he entered the workforce at Beseler Steel Products and later Felker Brothers Corporation and Evergreen Manufacturing. Tom was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hewitt, Wis.
Tom and Pat moved to Tomahawk in 2005, where he enjoyed golf, pickleball, fishing, bicycling, hunting, shuffleboard, and woodworking. He loved listening to country music and Sunday morning polka music. Tom especially appreciated the view of the lake and wildlife from his living room. Tom and Pat wintered in Texas and enjoyed the warmer climate of the south. He made many golf and pickleball friends in Palmview. Tom so very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was very proud of his children and grandchildren; their love for him is underlying as is his love for them.

In addition, a visitation was held at Generations Funeral Home in Tomahawk on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Tom’s objective in life was to be able to make people smile. In lieu of flowers, please just take the time to make someone else smile in Tom’s memory. A special thank you to Pastor Preston from NRC for giving Tom his blessing and comfort in his final day. Also, thank you to the Compassus Hospice nurses for their aid and support.
