Wisconsin Brass Quintet to perform ‘A Night at the Movies’ at Nicolet College Theater

RHINELANDER – Northwoods audiences will have the opportunity to experience cinematic musical masterpieces when the celebrated Wisconsin Brass Quintet performs at the Nicolet College Theatre.
The quintet will perform “A Night at the Movies” on Monday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Selections for the concert will include pieces from Austin Powers, The Incredibles, La La Land, On the Waterfront, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Soul, West Side Story, and more.
“Regarded as one of the ‘superb brass ensembles in the USA’ by MusicWeb International and praised for ‘remarkable musicianship and versatility’ by International Trumpet Guild Journal, the widely acclaimed Wisconsin Brass Quintet (WBQ) has maintained a position at the forefront of brass chamber music since the group’s founding in 1972,” Nicolet said in a release.
Current members include Jean Laurenz, trumpet; Gilson da Silva, trumpet; Daniel Grabois, horn; Mark Hetzler, trombone; Tom Curry, tuba; and special guest Matthew Endres, drum set.
The Wisconsin Brass Quintet is a faculty ensemble-in-residence at the Mead Witter School of Music. Over the years, the ensemble has performed throughout the Midwest and nationally, including appearances at New York’s Carnegie Recital Hall and Merkin Concert Hall.
“The Wisconsin Brass Quintet’s programs and master classes have been presented in such prestigious settings as The Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music,” Nicolet stated.
Current Quintet members have performed with artists such as Adele, Doc Severinson, The Hanson Brothers, The Boston Pops, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic and have shared their talents on international stages.
