MERRILL – Aspirus Health and the Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) are partnering to offer a free suicide prevention workshop.
The CALM Conversations training will be held at the Lincoln County Sports Club, 5071 Schulz Spur Drive, Merrill, on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
CALM Conversations is an introductory training intended for general adult audiences. No prior training in mental health or suicide prevention is required.
According to Aspirus and LCHD, participants will learn how to talk in a non-judgmental and supportive manner with a family member, friend or others who might be thinking about suicide, with an additional focus on how temporarily putting time and distance between an at-risk person and lethal means can help save lives.
The workshop is offered at no cost, but registration is required by Monday, Sept. 21. To learn more or to register, contact Kristin Bath at 715-539-1373 or kristin.bath@co.lincoln.wi.us. Space is limited.
A free light meal will be provided by LCHD.
