Aurora’s Guiding Light Foundation hosts 3rd annual Autism Acceptance Fundraiser

Posted

HAZELHURST – On Saturday, April 12, the Northwoods community came together in Hazelhurst for the 3rd Annual Autism Acceptance Fundraiser, hosted by Aurora’s Guiding Light Foundation.

The event raised an incredible $33,000 to support individuals with autism and their families – funds that will go directly toward expanding local resources, caregiver support groups and community education initiatives.

This year’s event was a heartwarming success, filled with live music, raffles, local vendors and family-friendly fun. Attendees included families from across the state, passionate advocates and local business owners, all united by a shared mission: creating a more inclusive and supportive world for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Aurora’s Guiding Light Foundation was created by the founder, Alexandra Kuckkahn, and inspired by her daughter, Aurora. The foundation is dedicated to helping families navigate life with autism through connection, education and support.

We’re incredibly grateful to all of our 35 amazing sponsors and our local volunteers who made this event possible through their generosity and community spirit. Their support helped create an unforgettable day of acceptance, love and empowerment. In addition, Fear and Fire Tattoo Studio hosted an event the same day, an event that helped fund our donations. Four tattoo artists worked all day and night to tattoo so many people with their five pages of flash tattoos.

This year’s fundraiser also marked the start of the foundation’s autism caregiver support group, which has already begun connecting families with resources and community in a safe and welcoming space. Looking ahead, the foundation is committed to growing these programs, offering more family-centered events, and continuing to advocate for inclusion and support in our communities.
