TOMAHAWK – Tomahawk High School (THS) will have a new Principal next school year.

During its meeting on Tuesday, March 10, the School District of Tomahawk Board of Education approved the hire of Brad Potter as the new high school Principal.

Potter will officially step into the role in July.

District Administrator Wendell Quesinberry during the meeting said Potter emerged from the “arduous” interview process as the district’s “unanimous number one choice.”

According to a release from the district, Potter brings more than 20 years of experience in education to Tomahawk.

He is currently completing his 10th year as an Associate Principal in the Merrill Area Public School District (MAPS). He previously spent 11 years as a social studies teacher, “where he built a strong reputation for his dedication to students and his passion for learning,” the district said.

“Mr. Potter is known as a collaborative leader who is committed to building strong relationships with staff and students, ensuring they feel supported, valued and heard,” the district stated. “He describes himself as a ‘lead learner,’ someone who is continually scanning for opportunities to refine practices that enhance the educational experience for students, families and staff.”

Quesinberry said Potter’s “experience, leadership style and commitment to continuous improvement make him an excellent fit for (the) district.”

“His focus on collaboration and student-centered decision-making aligns perfectly with our district values,” Quesinberry stated.

Potter also “strongly embraces the motto, ‘Every student, ready for life,’” according to the district.

“His leadership philosophy centers on preparing students not only for academic success, but also for meaningful futures beyond graduation,” the district stated.

Potter said he is thrilled to join the district “and the incredible Hatchet community.”

“Great schools are built on strong relationships, shared purpose and a commitment to continuous learning,” Potter stated. “I look forward to partnering with our staff, students and families to keep pushing forward, finding new ways to support every learner and ensuring that every student is truly ready for life.”

“The district is excited to welcome Mr. Potter and his leadership to Tomahawk High School and the broader Hatchet community,” the release said. “We look forward to the positive impact his experience and vision will bring to students, staff and families. “

The district said additional information about transition plans and opportunities for the community to meet Potter will be announced after he officially joins the district this summer.
