Posted

ONEIDA COUNTY – The Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department is seeking a citizen member to serve on the Conservation and UW-Extension Education (CUW) Committee for a two-year term.

A release from the department said the CUW is made up of five members of the Oneida County Board of Supervisors and one citizen member to oversee and provide guidance to the department.

The Committee meets once a month, typically on the second Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. Meetings can last from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of items on the agenda, according to the department.

“Citizen members will bring an agriculture voice to the table, learn more about conservation in Oneida County and vote on land and water conservation agenda items,” the department stated, noting that citizen members are eligible for a $40.00 stipend and mileage reimbursement for each meeting attended.

The department said qualified applicants must be engaged in crop or forage production; keeping livestock; beekeeping; nursery, sod or Christmas tree production; floriculture; aquaculture; fur farming; forest management; or specialty crop, such as maple syrup production.

Interested individuals can fill out and submit an application on the Land and Water Conservation website at www.oclw.org/employment.html or scan an application to lwcd@oneidacountywi.gov.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 28.

Applications will be reviewed by the CUW Committee and approved by the Oneida County board during its Tuesday, April 15 meeting. The applicant will begin their term at the May meeting.

For more information, visit the Land and Water Conservation website or contact the department at 715-369-7835.
