TOMAHAWK – A thriller novel set in Tomahawk is slated to be published next year.
Dead Girl Summer, written by #1 New York Times bestselling author Jeneva Rose, will be released on April 27, 2027.
“For two years in a row, the lake town of Tomahawk, Wis., has buried its young women,” a description of the book Rose’s website says. “Two drowned the first summer. One more the next. The locals have a name for it now: Dead Girl Summer. Disgraced true-crime podcast host Taryn Voss knows all about names – and how quickly they can turn on you. Once the face of a chart-topping show, she was canceled after platforming a deceitful witness whose lies led to an innocent man’s murder. Her audience vanished, advertisers fled, and her credibility collapsed overnight. So when Taryn hears about Dead Girl Summer – three accidental drownings in a town that survives on being seen as harmless – she sees one last chance at redemption. If she can succeed where law enforcement couldn’t, she won’t just reclaim her career. She’ll reclaim her own story.”
But Tomahawk doesn’t want her, the description says.
“Interim Sheriff Dana Mercer has spent her whole life in this town,” the description states. “Her badge is new, but her name isn’t – and if Tomahawk becomes synonymous with Dead Girl Summer, so does she. She has no intention of letting an outsider turn her town’s darkest chapter into content, especially one with a reputation for chasing a story no matter who gets hurt. Then a fourth body is found in the lake. With tourists watching and tensions rising, solving one death means questioning them all.”
Rose said Dead Girl Summer is her “twistiest book yet.”
“I can’t wait for you to get your hands on it,” she stated. “It’s small-town secrets, true crime, summer in Wisconsin, suspicious drownings and enough twists to make you question everyone…maybe, even yourself. Basically, it’s a beach read with a body count.”
Rose said she has been visiting Tomahawk with her husband and his family for more than a decade.
“It’s beautiful, charming…and apparently, in my fictional version, a terrible place to be a young woman near a body of water,” Rose said. “Sorry, Tomahawk.”

Rose is the author of several novels, including the multi-million-copy bestsellers The Perfect Marriage and The Perfect Divorce. Her work has been translated into more than 30 languages and optioned for film and television, according to her website. She lives in Wisconsin with her husband, son, and her English bulldog, Phyllis.
