‘Hatchet Crew’: TES launches new peer mentoring program

Posted

TOMAHAWK – Tomahawk Elementary School (TES) recently launched a new peer mentoring program.

The School District of Tomahawk said Ms. Perkins last week kicked off the very first session of “Hatchet Crew,” which connects younger TES students with older students.

“During lunch, our first graders spent quality time with their fifth grade mentors, building friendships and learning from each other,” the district stated.

The district said the program gives fifth graders the chance to develop leadership skills while spreading kindness, and helps TES’s youngest students form meaningful connections with role models in their school.

“The room was filled with laughter and positivity as students created buddy books to get to know one another,” the district stated. “It was a heartwarming start to a program that’s sure to make a big impact.”
