Jack G. Evans

Jack G. Evans, age 80, of Tomahawk, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at his home under the care of his family and Moments Hospice. Jack was born in Waukesha, Wis., on Nov. 22, 1944, to the late Gilbert and Lucille (Wrycza) Evans. He was married to Cheryl Smith on April 8, 1987; she survives.

Jack was a 1962 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha and moved to Tomahawk soon after. He worked as a barber for some time before working as a supervisor for Taystee Bread (Metz Baking Company), retiring in 2008. Always staying busy, he then worked in the floral department at J.W. Perry in Merrill, Wis., and last, was a driver for special needs at Lincoln Industries, a job he truly loved and gave him great joy. Jack was community minded and was a strong advocate and instrumental in establishing the New Beginnings Day Care. In his younger years, he loved camping, fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Evans, of Tomahawk; his daughters, Jessica (Nathan) Dahl, of Edgar, Wis., and Tina (Mike) Fleming, of Tomahawk; and his son, Troy (Jill) Evans, of Tomahawk. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Logan Dahl, Michael Fleming, Ashley Borchardt, and Aaron Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Lucille; his infant son, Albert; and his brother, James Evans.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated team at Moments Hospice for their unwavering support and compassionate care.

Memorial services for Jack Evans will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Pastor Julie Sinkula will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church and will be distributed to the special needs program.
