LCHD to host Community Baby Shower in October

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) is inviting the public to attend the 4th annual Lincoln County Community Baby Shower next month.

The event will be held at the Merrill Enrichment/Expo Center, 303 N. Sales St., Merrill, on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Lincoln County Community Baby Shower is a free event for families expecting a baby and all parents, caregivers and grandparents of children ages 0 to 18 months.

“We encourage you to bring someone along with you to this event,” LCHD said in a release. “Children are welcome. There is no registration for this event, come and go as you please.”

The following information and resources will be provided by participating agencies:

  • Doula services (new this year)
  • CPR and choking demos
  • Finding or starting up childcare
  • Safe sleep education
  • Tobacco, alcohol and substance cessation (First Breath; new this year)
  • Healthy homes and home safety education and resources
  • Immunization recommendations
  • Mental health and well being (Behavioral Health Clinic; new this year)
  • Developmental milestones
  • Supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Nutrition education
  • Parent support
  • Early literacy
  • Public assistance
  • Housing assistance
  • Pelvic floor physical therapy
  • Hispanic resources and translation services
  • Chiropractic services

LCHD said participants will receive a care package that includes baby essentials and educational materials, such as diapers, wipes, a starter toothbrush and more while supplies last. Booths may also have additional resources and take home items for families, LCHD noted.
