As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, Aug. 25:
On 08/17/2026 deputies were dispatched to the area of the W6300 block of CTH E in the Town of Rock Falls for a two-car crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the two vehicles involved in the crash had been traveling E/B on CTH E when the lead vehicle pulled to the side of the road for the driver to collect his mail from the mailbox. The second vehicle attempted to pass the first vehicle wide to the left when the first vehicle pulled back onto the road, causing the two vehicles to side swipe one another. Minor injuries were reported in the crash.
08/18/2026 the Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an active threat against both the Sheriff’s Office and the department of probation and parole in Lincoln County. It was reported that a Merrill man had made threats that he was going to shoot up both places. These threats resulted in a warrant for the man’s arrest being issued. Deputies then responded to the man’s house, where he was located and taken into custody. The man was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was booked in for disorderly conduct, felon in possession of a firearm, intentionally pointing a firearm at person and a probation violation.
On 08/18/2026 a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling E/B on CTH A in the area of Hometown Dr. in the Town of Bradley. The deputy noticed an equipment violation with the vehicle and the vehicle weaving slightly. Once stopped, the deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man. In making contact, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. As a result of the deputy’s observations, he asked the man if he would perform some sobriety tests. The man agreed to the tests, and as a result of those tests, he was arrested for a first offense of OWI. While the deputy attempted to arrest the man, he physical resisted the deputy’s attempt. Once in custody, the man was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was booked in for the OWI violation and for resisting arrest.
On 08/21/2026 deputies were dispatched to the area of CTH K and CTH Q in the Town of Scott for a two-car crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies learned that one vehicle was traveling S/B on CTH K, while the second vehicle was traveling N/B on CTH K. The driver of the N/B vehicle moved into the oncoming lane of traffic to pass a slower-moving vehicle. In doing so, the N/B vehicle struck the S/B vehicle head on, causing the N/B vehicle to roll over. A party in the S/B vehicle was trapped and needed assistance getting out of the car. All parties involved in the crash claimed injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Merrill Fire and Ambulance.
On 08/23/2026 deputies were dispatched Council Grounds State Park for a one-vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies found that a vehicle that had been traveling E/B on the park road and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The vehicle then struck a tree stump, causing significant damage to the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, and noticed signs of impairment. Following a subsequent investigation, the man was placed under arrest for OWI first offense with a passenger under the age of 16. The man also received a traffic citation for failure to keep his vehicle under control. The man was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to jail staff.
Deputies conducted 24 traffic stops and 17 security checks.
