As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, May 18:
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of thefts of copper wire from Frontier roadside work sites. The thefts are occurring countywide, as well as locations outside of Lincoln County. Unknown subjects have hit several sites (approximately 10) within Lincoln County over the last couple of weeks and have to this point only been steeling copper wire. Detectives are investigating the thefts and are working with other agencies on gathering evidence that will help in identifying the subjects. The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to keep these thefts in mind, be mindful of any suspicious vehicles, persons or activities in the area of roadside work sites and report that activity to your local law enforcement as soon as possible.
Deputies conducted 44 traffic stops and 27 security checks.
Deputies responded to four car vs. deer crashes, one car vs. turkey and one car vs. bear.
