As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Nov. 11:
On 11/04/2024 the Sheriff’s Office had received a complaint of a reckless driver on USH 51 near the 231mm in the City of Tomahawk. The vehicle was reported to being all over the road and almost in the ditch. When located, the deputy also observed similar driving behavior. When the deputy located the suspect vehicle, the deputy noticed that the driver was attempting to have the deputy follow him. Based on that and the original complaint, the deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of USH 51 and CTH K. The deputy made contact with the driver, a man, 48, from Leaf River, Ill., and in doing so noticed signs of impairment. As a result, this the deputy requested the driver perform some sobriety tests. As a result of those tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a first offense OWI; however he does have another OWI case still going through the courts in Grant County, Wis. The subject was later turned over to jail staff.
On 11/5/2024 a deputy on patrol conducted a traffic stop for a speeding violation on CTH A and CTH U in the Town of Bradley. When the deputy made contact with the driver, a Phillips woman, 20, they noticed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the driver to perform some sobriety tests, which she agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the deputy arrested the driver a first offense of OWI, as well as a speeding citation. The driver was later released to a responsible party.
On 11/08/2024 deputies were sent to the area of Leafy Grove Rd. and STH 64 in the Town of Corning for a motor vehicle crash with injuries. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the driver of the truck, a Merrill man, 75. The driver told the investigating deputy that he thought he had fallen asleep while driving. The driver was complaining of rib pain and was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
On 11/08/2024 deputies were called to the area of the N800 block of CTH W in the Town of Pine River for a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 19. The driver advised he was traveling N/B on CTH W when he swerved to miss a deer that had run out into the road. The vehicle ultimately did strike the deer and then went into the ditch, rolling over to final rest. The driver received injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Merrill Hospital. The driver was cited for operating with a suspended driver’s license.
On 11/09/2024 deputies were dispatched to the area of CTH C and CTH K in the Town of Merrill for a vehicle in the ditch. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 25. In making contact, the deputies noticed signs of impairment. Deputies asked the driver to perform sobriety tests, which he refused to do. As a result of this, he was placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. The man was also found to be in possession of a firearm and was arrested for going armed while intoxicated.
On 11/09/2024 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on Joe Snow Rd. and Fairview Rd. in the Town of Scott for a speeding violation and lane deviation. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Wausau man, 27. When making contact the deputy noticed signs of impairment. As a result of this, the driver was asked to perform sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. Based on those tests, the driver was placed under arrest for a first offense OWI. The driver was later released to a responsible party.
On 11/10/2024 deputies were called to an address in the N2200 block of CTH K in the Town of Merrill for a reported domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the reporting party, a Merrill man, 69. He was reporting that he wanted his daughter, a Merrill woman, 34, removed from his house so that he can clean the house. Apparently it was also reported that the daughter was fighting with the R/P, throwing things at him and took his car keys and cell phone. The deputies determined that the daughter was the predominate aggressor and placed her under arrest for disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim/witness with use or attempted use of force. She was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where she was booked in.
Deputies conducted 21 traffic stops and 15 security checks.
Deputies responded to 23 car vs. deer crashes
Driving complaints: Six.
The 911 Center took five hang-up calls and three nuisance calls.
