Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Nov. 24, 2025

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Nov. 24:

On 11/21/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a reckless driver traveling N/B on USH 51 near the 216 mile marker in the Township of Merrill and was observed weaving all over the road. A deputy was able to locate the suspect vehicle and conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Rhinelander man, 19, and noticed signs of impairment. The man was asked to do some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests he was placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. He was later released to a responsible party.

On 11/22/2025 the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle being stopped in the road on South End Rd. near Schulz Spur Dr. in the Township of Merrill. It was further reported that the driver was observed to be unresponsive and sitting in the driver’s seat with the car sill in gear. When the first deputy arrived on scene, they parked their squad in a position in front of the suspect vehicle so that the car couldn’t roll forward. The deputy was able to gain entry into the locked vehicle and make contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 24. In speaking with the driver, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The driver was asked to perform some sobriety tests, which he refused to do. The driver was then placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. The driver was uncooperative throughout the process. The driver was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections officers.

On 11/23/2025 a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling on USH 51 near CTH J in the Township of Birch at what appeared to be a faster rate of speed. Radar indicated the vehicle’s speed was 101 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and went to make contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 31. While making contact, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The driver was asked to perform some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests the driver was placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. The driver was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections officers. He was also cited for the speeding violation.

Deputies conducted 61 traffic stops and 58 security checks.

Deputies responded to 12 car vs. deer crashes.
