As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, Sept. 15:
On 09-07-2026 deputies were sent to an address on Oak Ridge Ave. in the Town of Merrill for a burglary in progress. Prior to the arrival of deputies, the R/P told dispatch that the suspect had fled the building on foot, and the R/P was chasing after him. Once deputies arrived on scene, the R/P had pointed out the location where they had last seen the suspect. Deputies went to that location and located the suspect, a Shell Lake man. The deputies detained the man without incident. In speaking with the man, he advised he had entered the building with intent to just look around. The man was placed under arrest for burglary, entering into/onto a building/construction site/ room, as well as a probation violation. He was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections officers.
On 09-09-2026 the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a battery that had occurred at an address on Goehe Rd. in the Town of Harrison. The R/P stated that her friend had attacked her and during the assault choked her. A deputy met with the victim at the Sheriff’s Office. The victim reported that her friend, a Lake Tomahawk man, was at her residence and he attacked her. Deputies began looking for the man and asked the assistance of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office to check an address in their jurisdiction. The man later turned himself in and was taken into custody for battery and disorderly conduct.
On 09-09-2026 deputies were sent to the area of CTH Z and STH 107 in the Town of Corning for a two-car crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the drivers involved and found that unit one had been traveling N/B on STH 107 while unit two had been traveling E/B on CTH Z. The driver of unit two failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of CTH Z and STH 107, striking unit one broadside. The driver of unit one, as well as the driver and a passenger of unit two, received minor injuries. The driver of unit two was cited for his violations. The passenger of unit two was transported via ambulance to Aspirus Merrill Hospital for treatment.
On 09-10-26 deputies were sent to the intersection of CTH J and CTH X in the Town of Schley for a two-car crash with injuries. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the driver and determined that unit one had been traveling on CTH X. Unit two had been W/B on CTH J when the driver failed to stop for a stop sign, striking unit one. Both driver sustained minor injuries. The driver of unit two was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
On 09-11-26 the Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint of a vehicle being operated on USH 51 near the 208 mile marker in the Town of Pine River. The vehicle, a white Ford Fusion, was reported to be all over the road, and it looked as though the driver was struggling with consciousness. A deputy in the area located the suspect vehicle and reported seeing the same type of driving behavior that was being reported to dispatch. The deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle; however, the driver failed to stop, prompting the deputy to call a vehicle chase. The deputy continued to follow the vehicle into Marathon County, where the driver eventually stopped at the 199 mile marker. After making contact with the driver, a Wausau woman, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the woman to perform some sobriety tests, which she agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the woman was placed under arrest for a second offense of OWI, resisting/failing to stop/fleeing and resisting/obstructing an officer. She was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where she was turned over to corrections officers. Deputies were assisted at the scene of the stop by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office. They were again assisted at Aspirus Merrill Hospital by the Merrill Police Department.
On 09-13-26 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle in the area of CTH W and its intersection with STH 64 for an equipment violation. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, and observed signs of impairment. The deputy asked the man if he would perform some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests, the man was placed under arrest for a 4th offense of OWI. The man was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections officers.
On 09-13-26 the Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Minneapolis International Airport of an aircraft complaint in the area of CTH E and Wadell Rd. in the Town of Bradley. Minneapolis air traffic control reported that someone on the ground in that area had pointed a laser at a 737 traveling at 34,000 feet. The aircraft was able to provide coordinates of where the laser originated from. Deputies responded to the area and did make contact with property owners, but were unsuccessful in locating a suspect. The aircraft reported no disruptions to the flight. The investigation is ongoing.
Deputies conducted 30 traffic stops and 22 security checks.
Deputies responded to five car vs. deer crashes.
