Posted

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, Sept. 2:

On 08-29-2026 a deputy was sent to check on a vehicle that was stopped in the turn lane of CTH K and CTH Q in the Town Scott. When the deputy arrived on scene, they found the driver, a Merrill man, passed out behind the wheel with his vehicle stopped in the lane of traffic. The vehicle was found to still be in drive and the driver’s foot was on the break. Observing several signs of impairment, the deputy asked the man to do some sobriety tests, which he agreed to do. As a result of those tests, he was placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. The man was later turned over to corrections staff at the Lincoln County Jail.

On 08-30-2026 deputies were sent to the area of the N6400 block of CTH J for a car crash with injuries. Upon arrival on scene, the deputies found that the driver had left the scene. Investigation of the scene revealed that the vehicle had been N/B on CTH J when the driver miss-judged a curve in the road and drove of the road on the inside ditch of the curve. Once in the ditch, the vehicle rolled once, coming to final rest on its tires. It was later learned that the driver, an Edgar man, and his passenger had gone to Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital for treatment of injuries that they received in the crash. Deputies went to the hospital and made contact with the man. Following that contact, he was placed under arrest for first offense OWI, going armed while intoxicated and a probation violation. He was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was turned over to corrections staff.

Deputies conducted 17 traffic stops and 21 security checks.

Deputies responded to five car vs. deer crashes and one car vs. porcupine.
