As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, Sept. 8:
On 08-31-2026 a deputy was sent the area of USH 51 and CTH S in the Town of Skanawan for a reckless driving complaint. It was reported that the suspect was texting while driving and was all over the road. The deputy was able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop on it to investigate the complaint. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, who was found to have a suspended driver’s license. He was cited for operating while suspended and not having proof of insurance with him.
On 09-4-2026 deputies were sent to the area of USH 51 and the 216 mile marker in the Town of Merrill for a rollover crash with injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle had been N/B on USH 51 when for unknown reasons the driver, a Sayner woman, left the road, entering the ditch and rolling to final rest in the wood line. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Merrill Fire Department, and she was then transported by ambulance to Aspirus Merrill Hospital for unknown injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Merrill Fire Department, the Merrill Police Department and Lightning Towing.
On 09-4-2026 deputies were sent to an address on Memorial Dr. in the Town of Merrill for a disturbance in progress. It was reported that a male at that address was being disorderly by trying to start fights with other residents in the house and throwing an energy drink on the floor. The suspect at one point also made a threat to shoot others. Prior to deputies’ arrival, they were advised that the suspect was still in the house and two other occupants left the house. Upon arrival deputies made contact with and detained the suspect, a Merrill man. After speaking with parties involved, the man was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and probation violations. He was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail and turned over to jail staff.
Deputies conducted 44 traffic stops and 15 security checks.
Deputies responded to seven car vs. deer crashes.
