Lions Club’s Thrilla on the Grilla returns to downtown Tomahawk

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Lions Club held its 16^th annual Thrilla on the Grilla rib and side dish cook-off in downtown Tomahawk on Saturday, Aug. 1.

In the Celebrity Judges-Ribs category, Outboards Bar and Grill took first place, followed by Big Dawgs BBQ and Century 21 Best Way Realty.

Big Dawgs BBQ placed first in Celebrity Judges-Sides. Outboards and Century 21 Best Way Realty rounded out the top three.

The Lions Club noted that there were ties for second place in both Celebrity Judges categories.

“Century 21 Best Way Realty graciously accepted the third-place trophy, allowing the other tied team to receive the second-place trophy,” the Lions Club stated. “We appreciate their sportsmanship and willingness to help ensure each winning team received a trophy.”

Big Dawgs BBQ took the top spot in the People's Choice-Ribs category, followed by The Loop Hole LLC and LP.

In the People's Choice-Sides category, LP was the top finisher. B's Nest placed second, followed by Outboards in third place.

The club congratulated all of the category winners.

“We loved seeing so many talented BBQ teams showcase their skills and compete throughout the day,” the Lions Club stated.

The club also gave a shoutout to the celebrity judges: Famous Dave Anderson, Alex Koch of WJJQ, Bob Thorpe, Wander In Wisconsin, Adam Danisch of Texas Roadhouse and Brad Becker of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and thanked Crossbridge Community Bank for sponsoring BMAC, the day’s live entertainment.

“Thank you to all of our competitors, volunteers, sponsors and everyone who came out to support the Tomahawk Lions Club,” the club said. “A special thank you to Scuff, Crabby and Ed Bowles for keeping the garbage picked up throughout the event, to Paul Warner for donating the dumpster and to The Garage for stepping in at the last minute to cook the racks of ribs that had been assigned to the team that had to withdraw.”
