TOWN OF CORNING – A Merrill teen was flown to the hospital with critical injuries after a two-car crash in the Town of Corning this past weekend.
According to a release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, July 26, the Lincoln County 911 Center received a report of a two-car crash with multiple injured parties on State Hwy. 64 near Elm Grove Rd.
The Sheriff’s Office said preliminary investigation and testimony from the driver of the second vehicle indicated that the first vehicle was traveling eastbound on State Hwy. 64 when it crossed into the westbound lane and struck the second vehicle.
The first vehicle was being operated by a Merrill female, 17. She was flown by helicopter to Marshfield Medical Center with unknown critical injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said. The female’s two-week-old son, who was secured in a car seat in the vehicle, was uninjured.
The second vehicle was occupied by a man, 60 and his wife, 56, both from Jim Falls. Both parties sustained minor injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation. The Wisconsin State Patrol was contacted to assist.
No additional information was released as of press time on Monday, July 27.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Merrill Police Department, the Corning Fire Department, Merrill Fire Department Ambulance, MedEvac Helicopter, and Lightning Wrecker Service.
