On a mission: Rock Church team traveling to Kenya

Posted

NAIROBI, KENYA – A team of nine women from a local church today embarked on a two-week mission trip to Africa.

Colleen, Wendy, Kayla, Sara, Jessi, Sarah, Ellerie, Adalai and Sadie – members of The Rock Church, located at 1775 Kaphaem Rd. in Tomahawk – departed from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Wednesday, July 8, destined for Nairobi, Kenya.

Deb Jensen, also a member of The Rock Church, said that while in Kenya, the team will serve women, children and families through music, teaching and speaking.

When asked to lead a team from The Rock Church to Africa, Jessi Mueller connected with a missionary contact who is from Kenya, but is now living in Pennsylvania.

“God opened the door for the team to go to Africa when Pastor Samuel offered to be our host and return to Kenya with us,” Mueller said. “This mission trip provides an opportunity to serve with a local church in Kenya, coming alongside of them to do God’s work.”

The Tomahawk team will join a contingent from Lancaster, Penn., on the mission trip. They will return to the United States on Wednesday, July 22.
