TOMAHAWK – A pool tournament held in Tomahawk this past weekend raised funds for an organization that sends veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the memorials that honor their service.
A 20-team scotch doubles (man and woman) partner double-elimination pool tournament was hosted by VFW Post 2687, Cockatiels and Floyd’s Timber Tavern on Saturday, Nov. 9, with half of all registration fees benefiting the Never Forgotten Honor Flight (NFHF).
A total of $8,200.00 was collected through the tournament and raffle baskets donated by area residents and businesses.
Rick Running and Tammy Radtke took first place in the tournament, followed by Tim DeBels and Jodi McCumber in second and Mike Meinheit and Lori Rogney in third.
The top three teams received a total payout of $450.00, much of which was donated to NFHF. Many raffle winners also gave their winnings to the organization.
The funds will be presented to NFHF later this year.
Event organizer Misty Bergsrud thanked the hosting establishments, tournament director Joe Trapp and the community for its support.
