LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office last week congratulated a pair of employees for recently completing the 200-Hour Jail Academy at Nicolet College in Rhinelander.

Corrections Sergeant Amber Gorell and Corrections Officer Maya Arrowood graduated from the academy in May.

“We are proud to recognize both officers for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to excellence throughout the academy,” the Sheriff’s Office said, noting that Sgt. Gorell and CO Arrowood each received additional accolades during the graduation ceremony.

“CO Arrowood was honored with the Partner Award, a distinction voted on by fellow classmates, presented to the student who exemplifies the character, teamwork and qualities of an ideal partner,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “Receiving this award is a huge honor and reflects the respect and trust CO Arrowood earned from her peers during the academy.”

Sgt. Gorell received the Academic Excellence Award, recognizing the student who maintained the highest written test scores throughout the academy.

The Sheriff’s Office said Gorell’s achievement “demonstrates the exceptional dedication and discipline required to master the knowledge and skills needed in this difficult line of work.”

“These accomplishments show the professionalism, caring and hard work both officers bring to the table every day,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “We are fortunate to have them. Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Gorell and CO Arrowood on these outstanding achievements.”
