Small Community Forum to be held in Tomahawk

TOMAHAWK – The public is invited to join community leaders, elected officials, business owners and civic-minded neighbors at a Tomahawk event focused on sharing best practices and tackling the opportunities and challenges unique to small-town Wisconsin.

Lincoln County has been selected to host one of two Small Community Forum events in Wisconsin this year. An event will also be held in Dunn County.

The Lincoln County Small Community Forum will be held at the PCA William Buedingen Training Center, W6147 State Hwy. 86, Tomahawk, on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Agenda highlights for the 2026 forums include:

  • Local case studies, showcasing area projects and initiatives.
  • Community-involved employers’ impact on community development, spotlighting area employers who are creating and investing in local community development.
  • Rural housing: Tools, tactics, strategies and a panel discussion with state, county and local leaders.
  • Roundtable discussions: Local and area topics of interest and concern to residents and visitors.

The Lincoln County forum will feature an introduction from Tomahawk Mayor Michael Habeck, presentations on using Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Community Development investment (CDI) grants to fuel downtown development, how Tomahawk revitalized Washington Square Park and more.

Additional agenda information will be released in the coming weeks.

The forums are hosted by local organizations and agencies, as well as Create Wisconsin, the League of Wisconsin Municipalities, UW-Madison Division of Extension, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Counties Association, the Wisconsin Downtown Action Council, the WEDC Wisconsin Main Street Program, WEDC’s Office of Rural Prosperity and Wisconsin Rural Partners.
