TES collects 1,000-plus pounds of pop tops for Ronald McDonald House

TOMAHAWK – Over the past six years, Tomahawk Elementary School (TES) students have collected 1,062 pounds of aluminum pop tops to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the School District of Tomahawk announced this week.

Ronald McDonald House Charities recycles donated aluminum to help fund lodging and resources for families facing medical emergencies far from home.

The Tomahawk students ultimately helped raise $394.00 to support families with hospitalized children.

The long-term collection drive has been an elementary school-wide effort, with participation from every grade level, 4K through 5th, the district said.

“This project has been a great way for students to learn about giving back,” Principal Sheri Woodall said. “It’s amazing how something so small can add up to make such a big difference.”

The district said the students’ efforts are a “heartwarming show of compassion and commitment.”

“Tomahawk Elementary’s contribution stands as a shining example of how small actions can lead to a big impact,” the School District of Tomahawk said.
