TOWN OF WILSON – A Tomahawk woman died this week after the UTV she was operating was struck by a vehicle.
According to a release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, Aug. 17, at 6:07 p.m., the Lincoln County 911 Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a UTV and an SUV on U.S. Hwy. 8 at County Rd. CC in the Town of Wilson. It was reported that there were three injured individuals, with one having significant injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office said preliminary investigation suggested that a UTV, being operated by Sandra S. Myre, 82, of Tomahawk, was crossing U.S. Hwy. 8 when it was struck by a westbound SUV being operated by a female, 40.
Myre was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.
The passenger in the UTV, a female, 79, was also transported to the hospital by ambulance. The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital by private auto. Both are expected to recover from their injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Tomahawk EMS, the Tomahawk Fire Department, Oneida County EMS, the Merrill Fire Department, the Tomahawk Police Department, MedEvac Air, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office.
