TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Police Department (TPD) recently received a pair of grants.
In his July monthly report to Mayor Michael “Hob” E. Habeck, the City of Tomahawk Health and Safety Committee, the City of Tomahawk Common Council and the City of Tomahawk Police and Fire Commission, Police Chief Al Elvins said TPD was awarded grants from Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) and the Northcentral Drug Enforcement Group (NORDEG)
A $2,000 grant from Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) will go towards replacing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) that are slated to be discontinued. Elvins said he will purchase as many units as possible with the funds.
The department also received a $633.25 contribution from NORDEG to reimburse overtime incurred working on methamphetamine cases in the city, Elvins said.
TPD has received a total of $6,325 in grant funding this year, according to Elvins.
