MADISON – Competing on the biggest stage in Wisconsin high school wrestling, two members of the Tomahawk Lady Hatchets represented their program with determination and pride at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament inside the iconic Kohl Center in Madison.
For both wrestlers, the opportunity to compete under the bright lights of one of the state’s premier venues marked a memorable moment in their seasons and careers.
At 107 pounds, Tomahawk’s Kylie Peissig opened her tournament against Addison Brown of the Winneconne Wolves. Peissig battled hard through the opening periods before Brown secured a fall in the third period.
Peissig responded in impressive fashion in her second match against Kaleigh Holl of the Horicon Marshmen. Wrestling aggressively from the start, Peissig controlled the action and earned a pin in 2:16, highlighting her resilience on the State stage.
Her final bout came against Aaleeh Le of the Wausau West Warriors. In a competitive matchup, Peissig kept things close throughout before ultimately falling by a 13–7 decision.
At 185 pounds, Kami Gabrich also stepped onto the mat at the Kohl Center, an experience many young wrestlers dream about. Gabrich opened the tournament against Katie Kent of the Janesville Parker Vikings. Kent earned a fall at the 2:54 mark, but Gabrich continued to compete with determination.
In her final match, Gabrich faced Avalee Euler from the Holmen Vikings. Euler secured a pin in 2:33 to close out the match.
For Peissig and Gabrich, simply earning the opportunity to represent Tomahawk at the State tournament stands as a significant accomplishment. The experience of competing at Wisconsin’s premier high school wrestling event is a direct result of these athletes’ hard work and dedication.
