WISCONSIN – Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) is giving customers the chance to unleash their dogs’ full potential as its next safe digging “ambassadog.”
“Your precious pup can help spread an important safety message: ‘Doggone it!’ Call 811 at least three days before you dig,’” WPS said in a release.
To enter, WPS customers can submit photos of their dog digging or in their favorite place to dig.
The company will accept ambassadog applications at www.wisconsinpublicservice.com through Thursday, July 9.
WPS will narrow down the entries to several finalists before opening up voting to the public. The top dog will be the star of the company’s safe digging awareness campaign all year long and will be featured on a billboard on National Safe Digging Day on Aug. 11.
Last year, WPS customers and dog lovers voted to make Pearl from Schofield the company’s ambassadog. During her term, Pearl’s important message reached people across northeast and northcentral Wisconsin.
Tomahawk pup Arlo was selected as the first-ever ambassadog in 2024.
“Digging can be dangerous if you don’t call 811 at least three days in advance,” WPS stated. “Whether you’re planting a garden or installing a fence, knowing the location of underground utilities helps keep you and your family safe. Notifying Diggers Hotline is easy, it’s free, and it’s the law.”
