TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk High School (THS) football team, including five seniors, recently garnered statewide recognition for their performance not on the field – but in the classroom.

The Hatchets received Academic All-State honors from Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) for the 2025 season.

The WFCA said the award is given to teams and individuals that attain a high level of academic success.

To qualify for the team Academic All-State Award, the cumulative grade point average (GPA) of all seniors must be 3.33 or higher, with a minimum of five seniors on the team.

The Hatchets, with 11 seniors, maintained a cumulative 3.65 GPA as a team.

To qualify for individual Academic All-State honors, a student must be a senior with a 3.75 GPA or higher and must be a varsity letterwinner.

THS seniors Ethan Gibeult, Logan Norman, Nathan Norman, Rex Reilly and Michael Samundsen were each recognized individually.

“The WFCA would like to recognize those individuals and teams, regardless of win-loss record, with Academic All-State Award recognition,” the WCFA said. “The team award is purely an academic award that we feel is deserving, as those teams have endured countless hours dedicated to the sport of football while their leaders, the seniors, have still maintained an exceptional GPA and remained dedicated in the classroom. This award represents the team, but more importantly, the senior class.”
