Posted

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Oct. 5:

On 09-29-2026 deputies were sent to the area of CTH Z and STH 107 and 64 in the Town of Corning for a two-car crash with injuries. It was reported that the passenger in one of the two cars had a bloody nose and was not making sense. When deputies arrived on scene, they found that the driver of the first vehicle, a man from Tuscaloosa, Ala., had been W/B on CTH Z and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of STH 107 and 64. The second vehicle, being driven by a Merrill man, had been traveling N/B on STH 107 when he struck the first vehicle on the driver’s side. The passenger in the first vehicle, a man from Mobile, Ala., was found to have sustained more serious injuries than what was first thought. He was transported by ground ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Corning Fire and First Responders, as well as the Merrill Fire Ambulance and Rod’s Wrecker.

On 09-29-2026 deputies were sent to the area of USH 51 and the 218 mile marker in the Town of Rock Falls for a disturbance in progress. It was reported that the suspect, a Seymour man, was driving on USH 51 when his car suffered a flat tire. When he pulled to the side of the road, his son, also of Seymour and who was a passenger in the vehicle, got out to help the man change the tire. While changing the tire, the two got into an argument where the suspect was screaming and threatening to physically harm his son. The disturbance did turn physical when the suspect pushed his son out of the car and drove off with his son’s child still in the vehicle. A short time later, the suspect was located by officers with the Merrill PD at the Kwik Trip on Pine Ridge Blvd. In making contact with the man, he refused to speak with the officers and was advised that he was under arrest. The man actively fought with the officers and resisted their efforts to take him into custody. Officers were required to use force against the man and were eventually able to get him into custody. He was then turned over to a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office, who took him to Aspirus Merrill Hospital for medical clearance. He was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was booked in for the charges of second degree recklessly endangering safety, battery or threat to judge, disorderly conduct and resisting or obstructing an officer.

On 10-2-2026 the Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls about a reckless driver that was reported to be traveling on USH 51 near the 209 mile marker, weaving in both lanes of traffic and driving at variable speeds. Prior to deputies’ arrival in the area, the suspect drove his vehicle into a ditch. Witnesses were able to detain the suspect on scene until law enforcement arrived. Upon arrival, a deputy noticed signs of impairment. The driver, an Eau Claire man, was asked to perform some sobriety tests, which he refused to do. During the contact, the man lunged at the deputy at what the deputy thought was an attempt to tackle him or disarm the deputy. The deputy was able to get the man to the ground and take him into custody. The man was taken to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was booked for first offense of OWI and battery or threat to judge.

Deputies conducted 10 traffic stops and 19 security checks.

Deputies responded to nine car vs. deer crashes and one car vs. bear crash.
