TOMAHAWK – Last week, St. Mary’s School announced that it was one of the top finishers in a social media contest held by an area business.
As part of the social media contest, Facebook users could comment on a post on Grampa’s Farm’s page to nominate a local elementary school, with reactions to the comments counting as votes. The top three vote-getters would each be gifted a free pickup truck load of pumpkins from the Merrill business.
St. Mary’s ultimately received 160 votes, good for second place out of 83 participating schools. The School District of Crandon and Maple Grove Charter School placed first and third, respectively.
St. Mary’s Principal Juanita Skubal said students visited Grampa’s Farm, where they picked out their own pumpkins before enjoying a fun afternoon showing off their artistic talents as they painted them.
Skubal said the students “had a wonderful time.”
“A huge thank you to Grampa’s Farm for this fun opportunity and to everyone who voted for St. Mary’s,” Skubal stated. “We are so grateful for your support and love seeing our students learn, create and have fun together. What a wonderful way to celebrate fall at St. Mary’s!”
